A review request works best as a normal part of closing a job. When the team marks the work complete, it can send the customer the Business Profile review link through an agreed channel. The message should ask for an honest account of the experience, with no reward and no pressure to give a particular rating.
Google provides a review link and QR code for verified profiles. It says incentives for reviews are prohibited. Its content policy also prohibits selectively soliciting positive reviews or discouraging negative ones. Automating the request does not change those rules.
Set one clear trigger
The simplest trigger is job status = completed. Check that the record has a customer contact method and that the customer has not already received the request. If a job has several visits, choose whether the request goes after the final visit. Respect applicable messaging consent and opt-outs. Do not send the request to a prospect whose job never happened.
Give the team a way to pause requests when there is an unresolved service issue. That pause should be based on whether the job is still being resolved, not on a prediction that the customer might leave a low rating.
Keep the message short
Thanks for choosing us for your recent service. If you have a moment, would you share an honest review of your experience? Here is our Google review link: [link]. Your feedback helps us improve.
Do not ask for five stars, offer a discount or suggest the customer should contact you privately instead of leaving a critical review. Send at a sensible time for the customer, and avoid repeated reminders if they do not respond.
Measure the process, not a promised rating
Track completed jobs eligible for a request, requests sent, delivery failures and new reviews observed. Those counts will not match perfectly because a customer can review without using your link, or use the link later. Record who replies to new reviews and how quickly. Avoid publishing customer details in marketing reports.
Review requests are one part of local SEO for home services. If you also want routing and follow-up around the completed job, compare the monthly scopes before adding a custom workflow.
